Fleet 13

Located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Fleet 13 serves as the gathering point of sailors from the Metro Atlanta, North Georgia and Southern Tennessee area. Our designated sailing area is Lake Lanier, which is located some 31 miles north of Atlanta. When full, Lake Lanier has over 680 miles of shoreline making it Georgia’s own great lake! The purpose of Fleet 13 is to promote sailing in general and our ongoing love affair with the Catalina 34 in particular. Towards that goal of promoting sailing, Fleet 13 includes other makes of sailboats/sailboat owners in all of our activities. Our hope is that we might, through our inclusive approach, ignite in non-Catalina 34 owners the love of one of the best boats on the water – the Catalina 34!Sailing is the focal point of Fleet 13. We sponsor cruises, educational seminars, raft-ups and flotillas. However, we have off the water social activities too! Among those are wine tastings, brunches, holiday parties and dinners. Fleet 13 has also developed the Lake Lanier Cruising Guide that is given to each of the members and new points of interest are added to the guide every year. The fleet doesn’t limit itself to sailing on the lake alone. We have members who are experienced sailors in the Caribbean and Australian waters and have sponsored cruises in the BVI’s and then soon in Australia’s Whitsunday Islands. Our experienced membership enjoys sharing their world-wide expertise in these blue-water escapes.
