Thanks,  I'll hook up a voltmeter at the other end and see what's going on.  Take care.

Main Message Board / Charging rate
June 12, 2005, 04:03:55 PM
Hi,  I went brain dead today and need an answer that I already should know.  I noticed my gauge for charging with the engine running full rpms is reading about 16.  I know my batteries were charged when I left the slip.  Does this mean something needs replacing?

Main Message Board / Table
June 05, 2005, 05:52:20 PM
Hi,  Over the years we had to replace the table knob assy because it fell apart.  We also use the table as a bed more often than we like to.  What we did was take off about 1/2" all around the circumference.  We had a carpenter do it.  He had to sand and re-stain and seal the table again afterward.  The end result is that it was well worth the time and effort.  The table is effortless now to put down when making the bed.  No need to remove any cushions.

Main Message Board / Polarity

Hi,  I was also told that if you don't twist and lock your shore power plug in you can get flickering on your reverse polarity indicator light.

Main Message Board / galley leak
January 07, 2005, 08:18:38 AM
Hi,  Jack is right.  When we bought our boat new in 2000 we had to drill a hole in the bilge forward of the transmission.  Every time we went on a hard tack we would get water in the galley.  I drilled the hole and also put in small dams on port and stbd engine compartment just for added protection.  Haven't had any water since.  Also, Catalina had to replace my sole in the main salon because of water staining from the leak.  Somewhere in the forum notes there should be a picture of the fix.  If not between Jack our I we can dig it up.   :D

Main Message Board / VHF radios
August 20, 2004, 01:51:58 PM
Hi,  Just as a follow-up I found the switch at Defender.com.  The switch allows you to hook up two vhf radios to one antenna.  It also allows both radios to recieve at the same time but only one can send thru the primary antenna.  It does come with a small antenna built into the switch which may allow sending on the secondary radio.  The part is made by Gold line Inc.  Part #1165 for about $39.00.

Main Message Board / VHF RADIOS

Hi everyone,  A question for the ones in the know.  Is it possible to put two vhf hard mount radios on one mast installed antenna cable?  I haven't seen any two way connectors so I wasn't sure.

Main Message Board / wind speed

Hi,  I've been thinking about the same thing.  We have the Newport Boat Show coming up soon sooooooooooooo.    I've been reading a little about the wireless wind/speed by tacktic.  It's a little pricey but now wires.  I think the website was tacktic.com,,,,not sure.  Anyone out there have a wireless system?    8)

Main Message Board / gauges
June 08, 2003, 07:37:49 AM
Has anyone found a solution to the moisture that collects inside the gauges at the helm. It happens mainly when the engine is running.  I thought about loading up the inside of the gauge compartment with (silicate packs?) to dry everything out.  I thought I read about using a hair dryer in back of the gauges also.  Any thoughts?

Main Message Board / stuffing box
March 27, 2004, 03:28:40 PM
Hi,  I have a 2000 MKII c34.  I didn't see the size of the flax needed for the stuffing box in the owners manual.  I found mentioned in the search here that it could be 1/4 or 3/16 inches.  Has anyone changed a MKII recently?  I'm going to order goretex over the internet.  Thanks.

Main Message Board / Sticky Sliding Hatch Cover
January 25, 2004, 09:04:27 AM
I agree with Jack.  Our boat was brand new with the hatch sticking.  It was a problem with the hatch rubbing against the boat structure.  The dealer knew it was a problem and he installed the new hatch within a month of delivery.  From what I remember the hatch was warped at the sides.

Hi Jack,  Sounds like you got my old hatch.  That's exactly what we had to do.  See if you can get it replaced under warranty.
