Main Message Board / LIFELINES

Hi....I use Dolphnite cleaner & wax on all my rubber lifelines and those little rubber end caps on the stern rail ladder locks.  I also use it on all my stainless steel.  I've had very good luck with it.  It has held up all season.

Hi,  I don't pretend to know that much about solar but wouldn't you get more bang for the buck with a wind generator.  At least you wouldn't have to worry about the sun.

Hi,  Saltwater or fresh?  Sounds like it could be a leak in the fwd water tank if fresh.

Main Message Board / DOORS

Very well said, however, couldn't the doors be made to open inside instead of out?  Of course if your not paying attention and the doors are open I would imagine you could give yourself a nice egg on the head.  But what's one more lump amoung many.

Does anyone know why sailboats have the wooden slats for the main opening?  Is it just tradition or is there a specific reason?

Main Message Board / Catalina Parts
September 03, 2002, 12:32:04 PM
Hi, I don't understand why after all these years Catalina hasn't come out with some basic parts catalog.  They must have their parts inventoried on a database.  How difficult could that be to transfer to a web site for ordering.

Hi,  Our dealer put it under the stbd center seat.  Fits in there nicely.  He had to put some wood in to level it out.

Great Idea Stu,  I'm going to try that.  I know I can get plenty of outdoor carpet remnants.  Thanks for that one!   AL

Hi, anyone have a cure for a sticky inflatable floor in a Zodiac dingy.  It's about three years old and all of a sudden the floor started getting real sticky...

Hi, I think you are talking about the 176 model.  If so I have it in the color model.  I bought the chip called 'bluechart".  It gives me all the maps from upper massachusetts to long island.  I do most of my sailing off mass and ri.  The detail is terrific and includes the depths which are right on.  My only complaint is that it is hard to see in direct sunlight.  The more expensive chartplotters are better in the sun but you pay alot for it.  Hope this helps.    Al

Main Message Board / fresh water pump
May 21, 2002, 12:41:08 PM
Hi,  Believe it or not,  my pump just about stopped pumping water but was still running.  I thought for sure it was dying.  It turned out to be some crud from the water tanks had clogged the screen on the sink airator.  The filter on the pump was in pretty bad shape also.  The pump use to cycle off and on before, now it doesn't.  Must of been all related.

Hi, Do you see water in the area when it rains?  If not my guess is that you were forcing water in under something with the hose.  Sounds like under the winches or under the rub rail?

Main Message Board / CHARGER
May 13, 2002, 09:02:30 AM
Hi, I took my flyback and through it in the trash this year.  It failed me for the second time and I said that's it.  I went out and bought the statpower and it works like a charm.  I mounted it sideways near the trash can, behind the shelf.  I had to take out the little shelf that the trash can rested on.  I hardly hear the cooling fan run on it.  It's a good unit.  I also bought the remote panel for it.  Nice touch.
