The water is lying below the bunk, held by the bulkhead that has the transducer small hinged cover for want of better identification!
If you put your hand through the small access to clean the transducer you would discover the puddle!

By way of clarification: 1997 Catalina 34 Mk 2
Currently afloat in the Crinan canal West Coast of Scotland in fresh water, normally in the sea during summer season!
Forward water tank
Thanks guys for prompt response! Appreciated. When next onboard I will satisfy the salt or fresh test with judicious use of the finger!
And take a good look at the drain on the cable locker.
The log is what we call the fitting for the speed impeller!

I have a water ingress in the forepeak below the forward bunk. The water collects on the forward side of the bulkhead. I am 99% sure it is fresh! No leaks at the log fitting. It is not a major leak!!
The forward water tank is full

Thanks for prompt and helpful advice. My unit was in the starboard locker. A cursory look indicated aft cabin headboard removal and thanks to your advice aft cabin bulkhead removal! It was out last winter for installation of new Autohelm...........! I will take a deep breath and start dismantling! Many thanks.

Advice needed for Ailsa 1362 34mk2 in Bonnie Scotland!
The compressor is heavily corroded and needs changing, removal of the unit is straight forward. It is out!
Removal of the pipe work and wiring to the fridge compartment looks like another adventure! Advice on access please?

Jim,
Thanks for a very useful photo!
I hauled out on the Clyde yesterday.
I took the opportunity to have a very close scrutiny, the only holes I could find were on the bottom edge of the mast extrusion where it meets the mounting flange? I prodded with a very small prodder!
I will take a drill and bit when I return.
I meant to take a photo but in all the excitement forgot
Really appreciate your interest in helping!
Best wishes

Main Message Board / Water ingress at Foot of the mast
October 05, 2023, 07:01:40 AM
Hello from Bonnie Scotland, Catalina 34 Mk 2 sail number 1362.
Now in my third season with my Catalina "Ailsa"
Proving to be a real friend, but I need advice on how to eradicate a leak at the foot of the mast, it trickles down the compression pillar and on to the saloon floor.
Any advice welcome
Regards
David G
