Adding stern cleats?

After looking at a couple of other 34's, I noted there are only the 2 large cleats at the stern & forward of the stern pulpit "thrones". This setup does not seem like it would lend itself to setting up crossed docking lines to control motion in a slip.

It seems like a pair of large ones on the upper part of the transom & under the seats would be a good addition. Has anyone done this with their boat, and if so, any advice on best location, access for tightening the bolts, etc.?

Jeff, I have a MKII and cross my stern lines with the factory cleats.  They do rub against the stern rail and I always thought that would be a chafing problem, but it hasn't.  I guess if you are concerned with that, you could wrap the dock line with a chafing guard.

Jeff : Anytime you "X" the stern lines on a sailboat you can expect chaff of some kind!!

Thanks for the comments. I put chafe guards on the lines anyway, but was trying to come up with a better way to do things. More research is needed.

Boat not due until 7/21 (delayed at factory).
