Main Message Board / Aquamet shafting
June 02, 2011, 11:07:59 AM
It seems there is a marked difference in electrolysis characteristics between Stainless and Aquamet shafts.
My bronze propeller has completely deteriorated in less than three years even though the new shaft has had multiple zincs attached and regular inspections/replacements.
I am wondering if anybody else has had this occur.
I am thinking that a propeller zinc at the tip of the nut might be the answer. In any case this is a problem that need a solution.
Even considering the normal stray currents that occur in the slip I am in this is an amazing amount of deterioration.
Does anybody have any thoughts?

Main Message Board / Used Catalina 34 prop.

OK, one of you guys has your original prop in your garage that you will never use again.
You replaced it years ago with a folding or feathering prop and you may as well sell it to
me because you know in your heart you are never going to bother to go back to the standard
three blade prop again.

Call me and I will give you $300 and pay for postage.
I believe your prop says on it 15 X9 RH or 15 X 10 RH

Main Message Board / Engine control panel "Pan"
June 19, 2006, 12:22:50 PM
Has anybody had a problem with the Engine control "pan?"

My 1989 panel "Pan" is so old the already oversize screws holding in the engine control panel don't work.

Besides that it looks ugly. I have tried Catalina Yachts for this part in hopes of buying a new "Pan",  with no luck.
My panel pan is 16+ by 8+.
I would really like to buy a new pan.[
Has anybody got a solution for this ugly mess?

I would like to install new engine controlls on the binnacle (Wheel, compas mount) . Unfortunately the stems with the new labeled controls are too short and interfere with the binnacle. has anyone got a spiffy little add-on i can buy to make the new controls fit properly without this interference?

The old ones are plastic and bend to make clearance with the binnacle and the new ones are stainless with labels (See West Marine catalog)

Has anyone got a solution for the ignition key being too close to the seating area?
I would like to install a button or switch that would not get stepped on regularly.
