I am selling Pretty Lady. She is a 1988 Catalina 34. Not sure if she is a TR. The spinnaker bag says TR. I have not measured. She is turn key ready. All I need to do is put the water source hose on the head and a sanitation hose (I had a compost in it when I lived on it). All original head fixtures put back in. She has been a great boat. Fast and fun to sail! I moved up to a 37 foot for more space to live on. Located at Orleans Trail Marina at Stockon Lake in Missouri. Slip paid up until August 2019.

I have 3 new Renogy 100ah gel batteries. Had them on a new Xantrex charger, but the charger quit after a week. In the meantime, I bought a cheaper charger while waiting for Xantrex to do whatever they do to returned battery chargers.

Two of the batteries negative terminals spark when hooked up and get really hot when the nut is finally tightened. The other battery is fine. No problems. Why is this happening? Is there a mis-wire somewhere along the line? Or are the two batteries bad?

Everything is unhooked right now while I figure this out. Thanks for any help.

Well, I think I found it. One of the PO's along the way replaced the second to last screw (where my water is seeping in to the crack between the wall and frame) with a much longer screw than the rest. I sailed the boat before I put water in the tank (for the first time since I bought the boat), so it couldn't leak yet. I didn't notice the leak until a few days after and there was black mold already growing on the vinyl cover of mattress where the sheet soaked the water.

I didn't take the port wall off so I wasn't able to completely take off the aft wall, but I looked around and did notice on top of the tank, where the gauge unit is, some water around the seal. However, I doubt it is enough to have filled my cabin with a pond, and continue to try to fill it. I am pretty sure it is the long screw that did it.

Gluing nickels is a brilliant idea. I am going to do that when I take the wall off today.

I am sort of regretting putting in a 7" heavy foam/memory foam mattress as I am preparing to do this job today. It's like wrestling a whale and it will be interesting to see how I will remove both walls. Will probably have to do the job in steps....roll mattress up one way, then roll up the other way.... As a major inconvenience as this is, since I live on my boat, tonight I will enjoy the comfort of my mattress and this job will be a distant bad memory. lol.

I filled up the aft fresh water tank for the first time Sunday. Today, I noticed water all over the floor under my mattress. My mattress is a custom foam that rests on vented tiles to allow air flow. The bolts that hold the wall are saturated and continue to leak, especially the last few bolts closest to port side.
What causes a leak like this? I looked at it the best I could but didn't see any visible leaking. I dried off the seam where the water is coming in, but it keeps leaking. Any ideas?

3 blade non-fold prop. Raised the motor mounts band that made a big difference with vibration under motor. Haven't tested under sail yet.

I don't know if this is normal, I am new to this so please forgive my ignorance. Took boat out yesterday to sail. Had the stairs off to cool the engine (other problem that was solved) and during sailing, I noticed the engine shaking quite a bit when the prop was left in neutral to spin freely. Not a small shimmy, but enough to get sound to get noticed, and upon inspection, motor was shaking quite a bit all over the place.

This must be an issue because the new PYI dripless seal that was put on leaks .... a lot!!! I noticed this back at the dock. I spent a lot of money to get that leak fixed with this new seal and the new one leaks worse than the old one. It was burped by the workers when returned to me, so I assumed all was well.

Engine shaking....motor mounts fatigued? Which could cause vibration and possibly make the shaft seal leak? I am sure this might have been discussed in a previous post, but I can't seem to find it right now. Any help much appreciated.

1988 Catalina 34 with M25 Universal

I didn't have the U shape in the sensor wire, so I fixed it. Still runs constantly. I'll get a fan to put in aft lazarette to see if it helps. And get a smaller one for fridge.

I don't have the crank case vent mod, either. The hose ends below the engine. Stinks like old gritty, dirty garage with no ventilation..pretty much what it is on the boat. Lol

I don't think my boat has sunk in its past. My stanchions leak and I see water running down into the bilge. I suspect the nastiness black stuff is from that over years of neglect in there.

I'll try a different solution. Starbrite mold and mildew works, but it's  hard to get way up in there beyond visual of the bilge. Guess I'll have to get a bigger pump with solution and a hose to wash it out.

I just got back on it after a couple days gone and it is real pungent in cabin like sweet old musty wood. While gone I treated as far as I could up in there from bilge with those starbrite chlorine slow release pouches. Didn't work. Ugh.

As I am cleaning up the mess of hoses under the sink from PO's, I noticed a lot of black flaky stuff all over the place on fiberglass. It is all under the sink area way back up in there. There are some of the same black flakes resting on the bottom of the bilge, too. They are slimy, and away from water they are like thin black paper. It stinks and irritates my nose when I have my head close to the opening of under the sink. I usually run an exhaust fan in there to get the smell, but I really need to get rid of it.

Is it black mold? If not, what is it? Most importantly, any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

I just installed one of these to charge 3 100 AH gel batteries. It charges every day from 4 pm all night then goes back to stand-by until around 4 pm the next day. I hope I didn't make a mistake buying this brand after reading some of the posts.

Hello all. There is an old Adler Barbour cold machine unit on my boat. It was not working when I bought the boat. I replaced the thermostat and it works. It cools pretty well, with a thin layer of frost on the evaporator (it has developed an iceberg on one of the corners). I felt the compressor yesterday and it was pretty warm, but not hot. I could keep my hand on it without any pain from heat. I cleaned the fins off and tried to remove all of the dust from the unit.

It sits next to the aft water tank, way down in there, and it is hard to get to because my propane tank is mounted right above it, leaving a small space to squeeze in and try to clean the unit from dust and debris.

Noises: I hear gurgling and occasionally slight hissing in the lines running from the unit to the fridge box. Hissing not so much, but gurgling quite often. I hear it now as I am typing this.

When I replaced the thermostat, I put the wires back on exactly how they were on the old one. The knob is worn out, so I really don't know how high I have it. I turned it to the left, then moved it to what I think is the middle....maybe around 5. Ever since it has been revived, the fan runs continuously. It wasn't noticeable at first, but it has become louder, and I can hear it anywhere on the boat.

My question is: is the fan supposed to run continually 24/7? I would think it would cycle on and off.

I tried to describe the best I could and attached a picture. Thanks for any help.

I am sending it back. I realized I don't need or want the extra hassle and will use what I have until it quits working....then replace as needed.

This is what I have. It is the pump with a small 2.2 gallon tank.
