Compressors for both refrigeration and AC are in the nav station locker in my boat.   Don't ask me if I miss the storage or not.   They were there when I got her.

I used Atlantic Boat Transportation for a C34 move last summer from VA to GA.  Very satisfied.

This forum is probably the best benefit to C34 ownership.  Great boat, great information, great people.

Ah, new owner of a Late 80's C34.  I remember it like it was last summer.  Oh wait.  It was last summer and just like you I had foot trouble in the process.  I broke me heel the week before survey and sea trial.  Boat was delivered via truck and commissioned about a week later.  Nothing like a new love in your life to encourage you to over do it.  I ended up in my walking boot twice as long as I should have.

Update:
I called Hood as suggested by Ron and spoke with Marty.  Marty promptly emailed me a scan of the original installation manual in pdf format.  A picture is worth a thousand words.   I just had to remove the 2 screws(or course any old screws in dissimilar metal are work) that hold the guard arm and fairlead arm together and remove them.  This provided the needed clearance for the stopper knot to slip out of the larger holes on the bottom flange of the drum.  I have not had a chance to operate underway, but did furl a couple times at the dock.   By the way, 1/4 inch line as mentioned might be a little bit too small and slightly uncomfortable.  For now it works and I know it is very easy to replace should I want a larger size down the road.  The original manual even states cored line.

Too late Ron.  I grabbed 75' of 1/4" Sta-set Sunday morning prior to heading to the boat.  I flew many kites in my youth on monofilamnent so I'm hoping 1/4" double braid on what should be a properly working furling system isn't too uncomfortable.  If and when I get I the quarter inch in place it still looks like there is room for more line I just might might up to 3/8" or even go for some length of cored line.  Just don't know if I'm a fan of cored rope yet or not.

Ken, I found that thread on sailnet.  I could not get the line out through the base of the drum. If I only had a schematic.
Mike/Joanne,  You are spot on.  Already purchase a smaller diameter line.  Just need to figure out how to get the old one out.  (side note:  As a newbie here myself and a new C34 owner earlier this summer I will welcome Gary, Mary and Mariposa del Mar with open arms.)   Best wishes with your next adventure.

I have an old but otherwise functional Hood 3250 and cannot figure out how to replace the line.  (old line snapped on Saturday) Very little detail found on the older system searching the internet the past 2 nights.  Would anyone happen to have an old manual or schematic?

I have a badly fogged port lens in the head.  As soon as I get a chance I will remove the 'glass' and try to polish.  Based on the feedback from the reviews on this site:  http://headlightrestoration.org/products-polish.html  I think I will give the 3M product a try.

I have a slightly larger Dilonghi unit which I use to cool my home office at the peak of summer.  It has a 4" exhaust hose.  I have a Nicro solar vent in the forward hatch.  Pretty sure it is 4".   I'd need to measure when back on the boat, but why not run the exhaust up through one of your deck vents?  In my case if I could exhaust through the forward hatch and set the unit on the floor in the vberth it would not be in way at the companion way steps.  Now I'm curious as to which draws more amps.  My portable Dilonghi unit or my installed marine unit.  I just might need to drag my portable to the boat soon and see which one cool better for less.

I read up on the Whale Gulper and it sounds like a good replacement for my fried Jabsco.  On my 87 the sump is located under the sink in the head.  Is this were yours is located?  if so, would you have a photo of your installation?

It must be sump pump season.
