I used (Grey) Interlux nonskid and have been impressed with how it is wearing.....Hard use over several months last year, and it still looks good this year....never covered it over winter, and it still washes up pretty good.

Prep was the hardest part. ...Sanded the entire deck lightly with 120 grit, and a wire brush to get in between the ridges....Applied 2 coats with 2-3 inch brush (stiff), and don't walk on it for several days....I painted ALL of the nonskid.....it's a little rough on your knees, but rolling it on didn't seem like a good option, as it seemed to create bubbles in the surface.

The nonskid surface really is effective, wet decks are no longer an issue....I think it's a pretty good product.

I've had a lot of positive comments about how good it looks!

Iv'e carried the Honda 2000 in my Port locker for about 4 years ( it does fit, you just need to tip it sideways, and push it under the port windlass.) (Make SURE the gas tank isn't full).
I've only needed it twice while anchored out for 3 days to make hot water and then re-charge the batteries.
I ran it in the cockpit all the way aft. Propped it up level with make-shift plywood bracket.  With a nomal airflow, it should vent down wind. Noise was negligible. (They are very quiet).
These generators are very marketable items, and I would think if it is easily seen, it will probably dissapear.
Iv'e had no issues running the hot water heater,or the 20 amp Charles charger, but not at the same time.

Thanks so much again for your responses.....I ordered through Catalina Direct as advised (after spending HOURS looking on line and going through the local marine stores).......they have an exact replacement, AND a 90 degree......

Main Message Board / replacing the head sink drain

I'm having a difficult time finding a replacement drain or tailpiece for the head sink......The flange is about 2 3/16" and the cut-out is 1 3/4"....anyone else find an easier replacement?....(1987.....Hull No. 460)

Folks;

I relpaced my continuous line roller unit  about 7 years ago when I bought the boat....I still consider this to be one of the best investments I made in this boat, and I don't even remenber what it cost at the time.......Hood did have a "replacement plan" available at the time....so I just did it....I was able to easily change just the base and keep the foils that were original.....

I single hand almost all of the time, and I would never go back to the old type....too dangerous in even a fair wind!

If there are close choices in model selection, always go for the larger or more efficient unit.  It can be a bear getting that jib in on a stiff blow!

Sorry this took so long to reply to ....

So far this season, we pulled the head, replaced all upper end gaskets and seals. Had a "speed" shop check the head and valves since it was already out of the boat, they were fine. Replaced all of the external hoses except one (we'll get to that later).
Inspected the muffler, (I have access to cameras to do this kind of stuff).  Reconfigured the intake from the sea water fitting, from the original 1/2 inch intake to the 3/4 intake for the sink (new strainer), and pulled and cleaned the heat exchanger twice. Replaced the oberdorfer seawater pump thermostat, and the fresh water pump also.
After all of this work, I ran for about 2 hours under load, everything worked well ! Actually it never ran this cool!

Came back to the marina, cleaned up, and returned the following weekend for a quick sail.  Only to discover that the ONLY hose on the outside of the engine which I didn't replace, leaked about 4-6 gallons of fuel into the bilge. I probably set the head on it while reinstalling it. Fortunately. the switch is electronic,( Water Witch) and did not turn on, (It would have created an environmental nightmare in our marina).

I'm not comfortable that this could have happened, and am going to install a high water alarm on the boat (with a float switch). Also, a piezo buzzer in parallel with the bilge motor to let me know every time the bilge pump does turn on.
