removal of bilge vent metal vents

Greetings from Boston! I'm looking for some sggestions as to how one removes the metal vents port and starboard for the bilge vents.

My '87 will look really great when I get these re-chromed, only problem is - how do they come out!

I removed the three philips screws, taped all around with a thin blade to break the seal of the adhesive/caulk all around the bottom where it meets the deck.  The port vent seems to be hinged on either side, pivoting fore and aft...

I hope one of you "vintage" 34 owners have a solution for me.

My boat is a 98 and these are plastic. I replaced them with chrome from West Marine.

Mine came off by pushing up on the vents after the screws were removed.  Norris
