Racor Fuel Filter

Well here is a strange one... I could not get the boat started .... tried and tried and tried. Changed all the filters  etc. the problem was the racor fuel filter NOT the filter part but the metal part where the hoses come in and out the line coming in from the fuel tank was cloged in the metal part of the fliter.. had to have a new one put in and now she starts right up. Any body else have this odd problem??

kev : I have NEVER heard of the metal Racor piece (mounted on the bulkhead) - that the filter assembly screws into - get clogged!!!
