I have a 1998 34 Mark 11 and am not able to lower the table top to the berth position. I can remove the top and the side screw fastener but the post only moves slightly and seems to be stuck in the "up" position. The previous owner had never lowered the top or used this berth.
The manufacturer suggested I send the whole thing in to them for an inspection, but I am in Canada and the boat is 500 miles away on the hard for winter.
Has anyone else had the same problem or can offer any suggestions

Lack of use can make them sticky.  Do not lubricate, can't remember the specific reason why, it is in a previous thread.  I had a similiar experience, remove the table top.  Place a square piece of wood over the top of the post.  Might have to put a hole in the wood if you have a protrusion sticking up.  Then using the mast for balance stand on the post.  Might take a couple hops, but it will eventually go down.  After loosening it up, hand pressure on the table top should push it down next time.

With a little practice, you could use it as a pogo stick :D
