Inverter

I am planning to install an inverter in my 2001 mkll.  For the first time I didn't find much information here, maybe poor search skills.  Advice would be much appreciated.  The discussion on the Pro Mariner chargers has me thinking about a charger/inverter to save space.  Or maybe I should replace the charger and add the inverter.  After reading the posts I will only charge when I'm on the boat for the rest of this season.  The inverter I was considering is a Xanterx 1800 watt.  http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|328|936|613742&id=674814
Has anyone had experience....will it power the microwave?

I have this inverter and have come to like it very much.   It has a built in transfer switch and works great at a really decent price. 

However, iif you are looking to run your microwave, don't buy this unit.  Get a true sine wave unit.   Modified sine waves aren't sine waves.   Microwaves don't like them and there is nothing in the spec sheet that will tell you about the unit's waveform tolerance.   It was easier for me to replace my microwave than to replace the inverter - so I'm on microwave #3 now and it works OK.   Save yourself the trouble.

Jim, just installed a Xantrex1750 plus , I got from a company called Don Rowe.  215 bucks includes shipping and tax.  no built in transfer switch so ya gotta watch it when you connect shore power and it is still on and plugged in.  I like the unit, I put a battery switch that I activate with a red key when I want to activate the unit.  The digital monitor tells me how full my battery's are when I switch it on.  A modified wave unit. haven't tried my microwave yet.  But I have blended a lot of drinks and watched a lot of TV.
