Has anyone replaced their alternator recently for the M25XP engine? I'd like to keep it around 70A to 80A. Any model numbers that were/are easy replacement for the original Motorola? Are there other external regulators other then the Balmar ones?

Thanks,

Pierre

I just recently added a Balmar 912-75 (NOS) and a Balmar ARS-4 regulator (more NOS). Installation was easy after reading all the advice here.  I'm very happy.

Cheers,

Pierre : Just remember you'll probably have to reset your tachometer dip switches as you'll undoubtedly have a differant size alternator pulley, unless you use the same pulley.

Many writeups on that proceedure.  A thought

Spend $400 for a Balmar or $120 for a Blue Circle.  Your boat, your choice.  See:  http://www.c34.org/projects/projects-electrical-system-upgrade-2.html

No tach resets required either.
