Just back from several days out in the Gulf Islands and I noticed that after a couple hours motoring the volt meter reading in the cockpit panel dropped from 14.2 or so ,where it normally is when motoring, to 13. I motored for several hours and everything was fine. But that change in the reading is irritating me.
Any thoughts guys?

I believe that would be normal, depending on the type of alternator/regulator you have.  Batteries will take a bulk charge at 14.2-14.3, then will drop in the absorption and float stages as they maintain the charge.

Thanks Bill.
I'll dig out the regulator info for a re-read.

Tom : No one can give you a definative answer without knowing what your engine charging system loos like!!!
OEM alternator w/internal V-regulator?, Hi-Output alternator?, multi stage external regulator?, AutoMac? etc. ????
