Ken,

Have you tried Jack Rabbit Marine, Inc., 425 Fairfield Ave., Stamford, CT 06902?  Their phone is 203-961-8133 (9 am to 5 pm EST), FAX at 203-961-0382 or e-mail at mail@jackrabbitmarine.com.

These folks specialize in marine electrical systems.  They are very knowledgeable and helpful with reasonable prices.
Their web site is www.jackrabbitmarine.com

Unfortunately, I can't find the name of the guy I talked to there.

Thanks for the answers.  The web sites recomended that the temperature of the batteries should be monitored at the positive posts. A remote reading temperature gage can be used such as sold at Radio Shack.  The lower the temperature the higher the absorption voltage. The absorption voltage is 14.34 at 77 degrees F.
