Raced last wednesday for the first time this year. Only 4 boats in my class, but we crushed a '96 320 quite easily also buried a beneteau 28. got beat by a c27 though, word is he's stripped of everything 'cept sails. next week I'll handle the sail changes a bit quicker, the 27 ran away under genny while I still had the 100% blade up. great fun!

If you're racing PHRF it's illegal for the 27 to strip everything off.  :(  What conditions are you racing in that you're changing sails?  Here on Lake Michigan we've left the 155 on up to 20 kts or more of wind.  Any sail shortening is done by reefing the main which helps with weather helm.  If there's a reef in the main we shake it out when we bear off the wind.

Hi Ted,
The Wednesday Night Racing that occurs in our Peconic Bay area are point to point beer can racing. I usually take our our J-22 as the larger boats are serving hor-dourves as we're setting the spinnaker. That's not to say that there is not competition among the larger (25 feet+) boats. The fleet has 3 C34's, a Tartan S-10, 2 Tartan 33s, one design J-22, 24, 80's, a few C&C 27's, Beneteaus, etc. In the middle of the summer we get up to 40+ boats at the start, that leads to some very interesting situations. Isabel 98 should check out www.PBSA.net to enter our PHRF series.
