I received the following reply to my request to Catalina.  I wrote them asking for price and order info for a fuel pump and alternator belt.  To be honest, I was willing to pay alittle more to buy direct from Catalina figuring that I would get the exact part I needed.  If I go through universal, will they have the exact model, connections etc that is on the boat now?  Anyone  have any advice before I call Universal?

Catalinas e mail to me-"Randy,   Give Joe Joyce a call at Universal at 508-823-7677 ext. 234.  He
should be able to tell you the parts you need and direct you to a nearby dealer or service center.

There are local resources that you can use rather than going to Catalina, in this case.

Re: alterntor belts.  I printed out Ron's belt advice from the link above, but didn't bring the printout with me to the local auto parts store (alternate boat store and less expensive).  I did bring the 11A1015 number, which didn't help them at all.  I returned with the printout, and the 7400 was their clue.  Seems, as they told me, that the 7 is the width, the 40 is the length and the trailing zero is the fraction.

Check the belt number on your engine, but if you're miles away, wait til you get to the boat, check the number and find a local auto parts store.  As noted many times before, Universal costs are premiums for the same product.  No need to pay them for something that's the same at an auto store.

I had a 7390 on the boat (M25, OEM alternator).  I bought one of those and one 7400 knowing I had room to play with the bracket.

Cost?  $10.30 each, plus tax.

After my experience with the sink stoppers, one would think that I would go directly to Catalina for everything, but sometimes it is not necessary.

Thanks for your reply, Stu.  I brought the old belt with me but the out side is so beat up there is no part number.  I had a devil of a time getting the belt I'd picked up as a replacement on last year.  I had measured the old one and thought I'd gotten close, but it was so tight I almost couldn't get the darn thing on, so my thought was ordering direct from Catalina for the first one and then use that to go get several others.  But I guess they don't do that.
As to the Fuel pump, I guess my same concern.  I wanted an exact replacement which I really don't mind paying extra for.  Since I'm 3000 miles from the boat I don't get the opportunity to have leisurely time ordering a part.  With Voyager hull no 1345 I would think the parts vary from earlier years and models.  I have my owners manuals here and went to a marine supply place in Florida before I left the boat and they couldn't figure out what exact pump I needed and the pics they had didnt match up.  I am suprised at how few places there are in the Ft Pierce area and how hard it is to figure out how to get the exact part and being inland here they look at me funny when I start talking boat engine parts.  Guess I need a yellow "Boat gear for Dummies" store.  As I read your post, and refernce, I need the NAPA 610-1051.  I'll go see if I can find my Mainsheet.  You know me, a very concrete thinker, or should I say non thinker?

Last year I was sure glad I had the spare Obendorfer I'd bought when our old water pump started leaking.  Guess I'll try to muddle through this one.  Thanks.

Be careful about your "Mainsheet."  What prompted the referenced post was that there was a typo in the magazine.  Use the number for the fuel pump that you typed in above.
