Hello -

My boat is about ~1hr away.  Working on a raspberry pi / sensesp project, and hoping to install tank meters using one of these ultrasonic sensors: https://www.amazon.com/XKC-DS1603L-V1-Ultrasonic-Non-contact-Sensing-Apacitive/dp/B08C27QLDT

My question is -- i know there's space underneath the aft water tank.  Is there similarly any space beneath the starboard water tank or the holding tank?

Thanks in advance!

Noah

In an indirect answer to your question: the aft water tank sits on a molded fiberglas/gelcoated shelf, so no you can't get to the bottom of the tank. I believe those kinds of tank sensors need to go on the side of the tanks, not underneath. I have copper metal tape-style sensors on all my tanks (mounted to the sides. The only slightly difficult one was the holding tank, where I had to install a beckson port/inspection plate on the forward small bulkhead in front of tank in order to reach the tank's forward face to and install the sensor.

she : Please list your hull # and production year !!  I'm sure that Noah has ASSUMED that you have a MK 1 C34 and NOT an early 1986 production boat!!

Ron, what do you mean;  "assumed you have a MK 1 C34 and NOT a 1986 production boat!!"  Is there a difference? Please explain.

Noah : The early MK 1 1986 production C34s did not have an aft water tank!!

Noah didn't have to assume anything, Ron, the OP stated he had an aft tank.

Sounds like a fun project!. I can't speak to whether or not there is a cavity under the tank, but I am curious on the project. Do you have this running on the aft tank?

Have you found sample code for the Raspberry pi with that sensor? And a wiring schematic? I have raspberry pi on the boat right now that runs all the time and sends me daily emails with environmental and battery voltages. I'm always looking for new things to attach up.
