Thanks for the input everyone, I agree that access could be an issue which is why I'm going to play around with gluing in some neodymium magnets instead of screws, they should be plenty strong to hold the floor board. Unsure if they create much interference for electronics. I'll try it out, if it doesn't work out I will cut out a smaller access hatch in that floor board.

My boat has a hole cut there where the previous owner installed an in-hull depth transducer.

Underneath is wide open with 4-6" vertical clearance.

There must be coring underneath, though, because the depth gauge gives funky readings below six feet. It works great otherwise. ;)

She'll make .5 past 6 knots. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts. (I've added some special modifications myself.)

As far as I'm aware Catalina does not make cored hulls, only solid glass.

Logo are you going to refinish your floor boards?

Has anyone opened up the sole in the forward cabin? I'd like to install my new dst-810 in the location just forward of the bulkhead. I'm pretty sure there's enough clearance but I can't see what's under that floor, any stringers?
