I was reading a post today about this generator that I have, Honda 2000.  Lost my place in forum.  I have tried to connect it to the shore power outlet and i keep getting reverse polarity light coming on.  Your ideas?  1996 year

Afew years ago I also purchased a honda 2000 generator and had the same situation. I called HONDA and they said that this is not uncommon to show this light indicator. I am not an electrical person but they said that the generator (inverter) works on the principal that one side produces 1/2 the required power and the other half the other . Together they make up required 110. AC. So there is no polarity. What HONDA said is this is no cause for alarm. (so I just use it and it works fine, incidently the reverse polarity light no longer comes on)
???(It is not burnt out)

Terry's right.  Do a search on Honda ground (no quotation marks) and you'll find some earlier discussions.

You need to ground the Honda.  Check the manual.  There is a screw on the front of the Honda, put a ground wire on it and run it to the engine block.
