It's not diesel but....

I am having good success with my Honda EU2000 generator....

It runs my water heater and makes me a full tank of hot water in about a half-hour.

It easily powers my 40 AMP StatPower charger.

It is really clean power for my computer or TV, and the lights don't flicker when I am plugged into the generator.

It cost me 1000, with no installation.  The Fisher Panda goes for over 10K.

Yes, I have to carry gas, but I am carrying it for my dingy anyways.

Am curious about the Honda generator:  Does it have a 30 Amp connection?

No it uses a 20AMP 125V plug.  I have the 20AMP to 30AMP Marinco adapter.  So I plug the adapter into the generator, then my shorepower cord into that.

The generator is rated for 13.3AMPS continuous or 1600 watts.  My hot water heater taxes it the most pulling about 10AMPS.  My battery charger, with it's smart charger, does not seem to tax it.  The Honda is easy to tell when you overload it, it runs faster as it draws more AMPS, and shuts down if overloaded.

I have never tried it, but I also have a portable air conditioner it might run, wich draws only 5.5 AMPS, if I can get past the initial load.  But this is obviously not a setup for big air conditioners.

Just watch out for the carbon monoxide that little guy generates!  Where is is located when you run it?
