Has anyone installed a lock or deadbolt on the companionway from inside the cabin?  This is just in case you would like to secure the boat from within.  This ins't the easiest thing to do because the hatch still has to slide and you can't have locking hardware interfering with the opening travel of the hatch.  Just wondering if anyone else has given this any thought.  Power boat people don't have this problem, they just lock the door.

The previous owners of Luna Loca installed a small padlock hasp.  Round end on the hatch, hasp and hinge on upper companion way board. Put the boards in, slide the hatch closed, flip up the hasp and secure with a key chain snap.
