Connecting things to hull

I'm needing to install a few clips to the bottom of my stern lockers (I'm going to store some stuff in them, and want to install a vertical lattice grill to keep things away from the steering).  I'm assuming that putting any kind of screw into the hull is a really, really bad idea, but thought I'd confirm my assumptions before starting to glass some tabs into place.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Wayne,

The best way to attach anything to the hull is by bonding a plywood block to the glass with any thick bodied epoxy.  Sand the glass surface first, then clean with acetone before using the epoxy and plywood.  Thick bodied is better because it is better able to fill any minor voids between the hull (usually some kind of curve) and plywood, aflat plane.

Wayne : You can do the same as mentioned by Gary, but use Starboard or some pressure treated wood.  Then screw into that board.  Good luck.    :clap
