Black oil might mean the trans was slipping. Are you sure it was fully engaged (cable adjusted correctly)?

I could be wrong here but, increasing (aft) mast rake usually adds to weather helm. If you think your mast has excessive foreward rake and your experiencing weather helm I would examine the sails and determine if thier the cause. What kind of shape are the sails in?

It might be worth the fee to hire a surveyor. He could fill in those areas your not completly comfortable assessing.

We had the same problem. It seemed to get worse over the last several years. Nothing we did including aligning the engine, shiming the stairs, insulating the engine compartment or turning up the radio seemed to help. The vibration just got worse and worse. This spring we changed the motor mounts(Vetus) and installed new injectors(Kabota) and AAHHHHH SMOOOOTH. I'm not sure if it was the injectors or the mounts or a combination of the two, but were happy. Hope this helps.
