Main Message Board / M25xp coolant level
March 27, 2016, 09:17:50 AM
How far does the coolant level run below the radiator cap neck with a cold engine with a coolant reservoir installed.  Also what are the usual levels in a quart reservoir hot and cold.

Thanks

Main Message Board / Anchor Locker on C34
March 21, 2015, 06:57:37 AM
I am getting ready to glass in a deeper anchor locker on my O'Day 35.  I was wondering if anyone knows the fiberglass thickness on the aft side of the Catalina 34.

Ron, in your Wiki article on windlass box support you mention you made it 3/8 thick glass.  Did that prove satisfactory?

Main Message Board / Hurth 50 tran. bottom seam leak
August 15, 2012, 03:58:36 PM
I have a weeping type leak from the bottom fore to aft case seam. I have checked the shifter seal area and the rear shaft seal but it doesn't seem to be coming from either. Anyone else have this symptom?

Thanks

I have a m25xp. There is a small nipple in the base of the thermostat housing on the starboard side that takes fresh water to a small nipple in the top of the belt driven water pump. The nipple in thermostat housing is showing a lot of corrosion. Any one know if it is pressed in as on the older water pump or screws in as on the newer versions of the water pump. Thanks

Main Message Board / Vertus Engine mounts
June 05, 2011, 05:16:09 AM
Over several years I have seen several discussions on k50 vs k75 mounts for a M25xp.  There has been mention that K50s are pretty soft and K75s are pretty hard.

Ron I recall you setup with K50s forward and K75s aft. Do you still consider that the best combination?  You also mentioned that you had to file out the holes that mount on the stringers. My original mounts are about 1/8 in off the stringer bolts. Do the flanges have that much latitude to file?

Anbody else that has installed these mounts on this engine have current ideas?

Thanks Much

You showed a ball valve on top of a thermostat housing that you use to burp the cooling system. I wondered  who makes this particular valve and where I can get it.
Thanks

Cmainprize had a photo a while back where he had installed a Jegs fuel air separator to catch and keep track of the oil. I noted several have followed as I am getting read to. My question is in regard to the sponge (filter) in the valve cover on the breather tube output. Is the consensus to leave that filter in or take it out. If take it out, how is it going?

Thanks

Main Message Board / Runaway Diesel - Breather Recirc
August 18, 2010, 07:12:04 AM
I was reading tech notes in Aug. Mainsheet and saw the article on runaway diesel engines caused by recirculating the oil breather hose to the air intake.  I noted that they were talking about large industral diesels.  Given that new engines come with the recirc system in place I am wondering if this is really a concern on small engines.  Second if an engine does runaway do you have time to stick a plug into the intake or wrap plastic around the intake to shut it down.  Thanks

Main Message Board / Crankshaft Spline on M25-XP
October 19, 2008, 06:01:01 PM
Does anyone happen to know the spline size on the forward end of the crankshaft of an M25-XP.  I wanted to get a socket for it so I could easily rotate the shaft when adjusting the valves.  Thanks
