I used a regular 5 lb steel tank but within a year it's showed signs of rust.

Have you considered simply applying some Rustoleum paint?
Did that once already. Not going to tempt fate with a possibly compromised tank.

Is the 4 lb propane tank from Catalina direct okay to use in my propane locker on my 1990 sugar scoop? Catalina 34? I used a regular 5 lb steel tank but within a year it's showed signs of rust. I cannot find an appropriately sized aluminum tank since my last one no longer had the correct top on it. I have the standard white propane locker box with the blue top on it. Any direction in this would be appreciated.

Horrible weather in the Bronx for the past 7 days. Finally got out there. Thank you so much! The dog house worked

That looks great. Can't wait to get back to the boat to check it out. Thanks so much.

On my 1990 Mk 1.5 I replaced the tachometer. All good until I knocked a thin blue wire off. I believe it was on the back of the water temperature gauge and was for the overheat/oil pressure audio alarm. I've looked through a bunch of wiring diagrams but can't see where to connect it. Suggestions???

I am looking for a new tachometer for my 1990 Catalina 34 with the M35 engine. Catalina direct says they have distribution problem and none are in stock. Any leads to find one???

Thanks for the extra ideas. I was out for the past 5 days, including sailing back home in the remnants of Ian through the Long Island sound. The tech worked great 90 to 95% of the time. Still looking through all my connections.

Thanks for the ideas. With our first two days of rain in NYC in months it's a good time to work below decks. A day of wire tracing!

I have an m-35 universal diesel. Recently the tach occasionally drops to zero when I go above idle speed. I have metered it and the batteries still seems to be charging even with the tach showing 0 rpms. Suggestions where to check wiring?

I went with AllState. I live in NJ and insurance would have been $600, but the boat is on LI Sound in the Bronx so it's $900. Still way better than $2550. Thanks for the input. Safe boating to you all

Hmmm? My Boat US/Geico policy doesn't renew until November. But currently I pay $472 per year for my 1990 fin keel with a $45,000 agreed value. Had the policy for over 5 years with very minimal premium increases or value change and no new survey since policy began. Guess someone likes me 8) (or forgot about me)
Where are you located?

Thanks, I might also try a broker. Boat US/ Geico was $2550 for one year and dropped my valuation to $42,500 from $50,000.

I got my Geico/Boat US renewal today for my 1990 wing Kell tall rig. The premium went up 42% AND they decreased the insured value by 16%. Yikes!!!
Has anyone used AllState? I got a very low proposal offer, but is it too good to be true?
Any other suggestions?

The plastic stern shower cover on my 1990 Catalina has been epoxied back to life too many times. Any ideas on how/where to get a new one?
