We do, we have our "Monday Night" meals together. Liveaboards and none. And we try to have a weekly theme to the dinner as well. We use the clubhouse most of the Mondays. We have have had Italian, Asian, Portuguese, Japanese .... dinners.  Always a blast.
Otherwise we are always having casual chats on the docks or do tasks around the club such as clearing snow, or walking the docks turning on/off bubbler's.

Doesn't look like I posted any photos. I will upload a few and post them. Show you what a C34 surrounded in ice looks like :)

Just wanted to do a quick follow-up on this thread.

This is Winter #3 for me.  So far so good, winter has been mild except today when it's gone down to -15C/5F..

This yr we have a whopping 12 liveaboards.
Three, yes 3 C34's(including me), and 2 C30's. Of of the C34's there is a '87 or '88 model and the other a '92.

Hey Ron would happen to have any articles on the making of your cover?

Bob : I've written a couple of articles on making a sunbrilla cover for the Vberth hatch.  I wanted it so you didn't get "moon burnt" or have the sun come in before 07:30 reveille!!

I first made mine similar to Ken's recommendation, but found that the sunbrilla was too stiff and bunched up in the corners, so I used some other (thinner) polyester material for the edging.
It's held in place by thin shock cord.

Here is a link to a post a did over a yr ago about my experience.
http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,5365.0.html

I'm a full time live aboard in Toronto and this is my second winter. It was colder and snowier this yr. But I was much better prepared  and found that I was warmer and more comfy down below.

The biggest change this yr I did was placing mats like this on the floorboards.

Back onto the question of heat. I run a 1500watt heater() full time. This keeps the boat pretty warm as is. Even if the outside temperature  is -16c outside it was +16C inside.
Since I sleep in the v-berth. I have a Ceramic heater(1500w) on the portside shelf and another one in the galley at 900w set to LOW just to take the chill out in that corner.
The Ceramic heaters only come on when needed and run very little.

The key is to keep the interior warm. Once you let the boat get cold that's it, It takes forever to heat up and keep warm.
The Oil filled heater is left on all day, and when I get home I flip on the ceramics on and in less then 20 mins it's a good 21C and I'm comfy in a shirtsleeve t-shirt.

And Electric blanket helps too to take the chill out of the v-berth cushion.

Once the water temperature gets about +5C then I can begin using my Heat Pump/AC Unit. Which throws TONS of heat.

I have the following when I take trips.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6076240&Sku=E155-2010

I hoist it up the mast with my halyard. the power runs over the eithernet cable. Even if this is down at deck level it will pickup signals pretty far.

Thanks Ken...

I will most likely be walking around with the club cap, with EYC on the front.

Anyone have a discount code for the show to buy tickets online?

I haven't see it myself, but lets just say that some of the members at the club have tested this question if they can swim.... The answer. NO.

I don't think raccoons swim too well so hopefully we will be ok.

We had two get into powerboats over the winter, Just made a complete mess. Both boats had to be stripped down to the hull.

Not one winter doesn't go by without hearing that either a powerboat on the hard or a sailboat in the water storage isn't visited by a raccoon. I believe it was last yr. One of the wood sailboats we have at my club, had 4 or 5 baby raccoons.

I could go on and on and on about raccoon stories. From attacking one owner and shredding his pants to entering the clubhouse and enjoying a fest on the trashcans in the kitchen.

Also last yr we had 2 dingys totally chewed up as is they went thru a wood chipper by muskrats.
