Main Message Board / M25 Head gasket and shim
November 28, 2012, 08:30:39 AM
I'm getting exhaust into the cooling water on my M25. I believe it may be a leaking head gasket. Both the Universal & Kubota parts manual diagram show a head gasket and a shim (2 pieces). When removing the cylinder head there was just a head gasket no shim. Should there also be a shim as per the diagram in the parts books?

Thanks Ron:
I spoke to Gary and purchase the exhaust manifold and a few other spare parts from the engine. It's great to be a member of the association and the great help received from the members.
Thanks again

Thanks for all the feed back. The manifold has a internal leak on one of  the exhaust ports and is not repairable. I also have search the web for a new one and was surprised at the cost. I will continue to look for a used one. Hopefully I may find someone that is re-powering their boat and will have a used exhaust manifold for sale at a reasonable cost.
I will not be putting my boat back into the water until October, so I have some time to look.
Thanks

This symptoms I had with the exhaust manifold was; when the engine was running  the exhaust gases would enter the coolant reservoir, pressurizing the reservoir and slowly displacing the coolant by venting the coolant out the rad cap vent. Also if the coolant reservoir was full, rad cap removed while engine running, I would see bubbling in the antifreeze. The manifold was removed from the engine and a leak check carried out confirming a small internal leak.

I'm looking for a used exhaust manifold/coolant reservoir that is bolted to the side of my M25 engine.
My exhaust manifold/coolant reservoir has developed an internal leak and is leaking exhaust gases into the coolant reservoir.
Is there someone that may be repowering or have a exhaust manifold for sale?

I should have mentioned that my boat is and C36 with a M25 engine not the M25xp.

Main Message Board / M25 cylinder head Kubota part number
December 20, 2008, 08:09:52 AM
I may have to replace the cylinder head on my M25 engine. As my boat is in Mexico, I want to ensure I'm bringing the correct cylinder head with me, when I return to Mexico. Has anyone purchased a Kubota cylinder head for a M25 engine and could confirm the part number?

Below is an email from Ronne Bowman from Tractor Smart
Keith,

I have not sold a D850 cylinder head to anyone that owns a M-25 marine engine.
Every where I look for a head for a D850 it always shows up as Kubota part number 19267-03040.
I do not have any direct cross over information from Kubota to marine engine use.
All my information comes from trial and error from other marine engine owners.

Thanks,
Ronnie Bowman
