Main Message Board / zinc anode
April 24, 2009, 12:29:52 PM
I have received the wrong zinc anode from my dealer (Universal #301068   1/2").   I need a zinc anode 3/8".  Can anybody provide me the correct code number for a Universal zinc anode?

This another option: a full teak cover installed in the Netherlands by my Dutch Catalina dealer.

Has anybody experience with mounting a Navpod for the chartplotter on the pedestal guard? I have to drill four small holes(fixing) and one larger hole(wiring).
I am afraid to hit the existing wiring from my other Raymarine instruments. Of course I can pull out all the wiring, but that is a terrible lot of extra work and I am trying to avoid that.

Thanks Ray, sorry for my late reaction. This weekend I shall mounted my GPS according to your advice.

Ray,

Is it possible that you give me more precisely the location of your drilling holes and the mounting position. Perhaps a photo or a sketch? It seems a very neat solution.

The arrow is my proposed Raystar position. But I have some problems with the wiring at the crossing (circled) of the pipes. Is the stern crossing blocked? Is the horizontal pipe uninterrupted?  I do not want to use zip ties.

I have just bought the Raymarine C70 with the Raystar 125. I have a few questions: What is the best location on the stern for the Raystar receiver?
And is there anybody who can give me a smart advice how to install the wiring easily through the RVS stern stanchion?

Main Message Board / supplier for part

Can anybody provide me the name of the supplier for this small rustless steel piece. (to lock the gasbun or the anchorhatch). Two has broken during a heavy sailing trip. I cannot find a supplier in the Netherlands which can deliver me a part which fits on a Catalina 34 MKII.

This is the genoa system I wrote about. Is there anybody who has installed such a system with Gerhauer parts? And if you have installed such a system, could you please sent me some pixs?

I am also planning to install next spring foot return blocs on my genoa sheets of my Cat 34 - 2006. Question: Is there anybody who can sent me some photos from an installed Garhauer set?

Main Message Board / Re: Below-deck autopilot

I have planned to buy (and to install) an autopilot this winter. I am doubting between the ST 4001 and the ST 6001. A few sailors strongly recommended the St 6001 (below-deck autopilot). I am thinking to buy the St 6001 (S1G System Pack with AST  Advanced Steering Technology).
I have two questions:
- Has anybody experience with the ST 6001 on a Catalina 34?
- Is this package easy to install?

Main Message Board / Re: wingkeel or finkeel

I live also in the Netherlands and have a Catalina 34 mkII delivered in march 2006 (with a wing keel). Our Marina is in Zeeland with variated depths.
I must say I agree with Steve, my experience she performs well. I have no complaints with it and it is quite suited to the shallows. For your sailarea (IJsselmeer depth average 2-3 m; England, Belgium, France and the Scandinavian countries) a wing keel isn't necessary. But a wing keel expand your sail area in the Netherlands (Friesland, it is more convenient in Zeeland).  But to be honest we have no experience with a finkeel.
