Main Message Board / New Rudder Oversized?
July 08, 2019, 11:42:45 PM
Anyone have the new rudder from CD? Mine was installed but is wider and longer than the original. CD says the rudder was built to spec but does this look right? It's about 3" below the wing keel and about 6" wider than the old rudder as can be seen by the hull fin that used to match the blade of the rudder. Does anyone have  any input on this?  Thanks, Dan.

Main Message Board / Void in topside Deck
June 20, 2019, 11:49:06 PM
Yesterday, i went to patch a getlcoat crack, or so i thought. Once we dremeled through, we discovered wet wood between the top and bottom fiberglass deck and overhead liner.  We stuck a cable tie in the holes to get a rough idea of how big the void is. We drilled a drain hole and vacuumed out as much water as we could. No rain in the forecast for a week so i will allow it to dry out and maybe use a heat gun to help dry.   Once dry , i have two part epoxy , slow curing to allow for better viscosity longer working time.

i realize the real fix is to tear up the deck and replace as necessary. probably not gonna do that....yet.
Anyone had to deal with this?

thanks, Dan

Main Message Board / Wire Harness Upgrade and memos
March 25, 2019, 10:33:16 PM
Hello C34 owners,  i wanted to share my completed photos of the wire harness upgrade following Dave Millers post on this site.

I chose to build a new harness.attached are hopefully 4 low quality pics to meet the upload limits.

All went according to procedure except for two steps.

#1 The omission/rerouting of the alternator wire to the starter also omits the 12V to the engine panel. So, as most of you know, just adding a 10g wire from the +12v connected to the starter to the terminal strip was the answer.

#2 Just replacing the ammeter for the voltmeter is simple enough since the orange charge wire was now gone but you must move the +12v that supplies the voltmeter, to the other side of the ignition switch, otherwise the meter will read constant battery voltage from the selector switch.

no big deal , and I'm sure someone will say i didn't click, sort, or scroll enough to unearth the last details, but I'm glad its done and I feel good about it.

one other small note, the voltmeter has a post with a red cover on it. Do not remove the cap, nothing connects to it.

hope someone finds this interesting, inspiring and easy.

thank you, Dan

Hello C34 owners. I found a bilge leak. It's seeping in from a crack on the mast step. I've seen the other posts of this crack but without leak. Has anyone else dealt with this?  I have not had any groundings whatsoever, no impact of any kind. I'm planning to haul out to inspect the bottom and see where the leak is coming in and why it's cracking the bilge. I'd like to know what's the best plan of attack and the best/worst case scenario?

Thank You,
Dan
