Main Message Board / Microwave
March 24, 2018, 09:32:32 AM
My Samsung microwave is dead and I haven't been able to locate a new one that will fit into the slot on my 2005 C34.
The microwave has to be less than 10" high to fit into the space provided.  Contacted Catalina and no help, with the
microwave they referred me to being more than 10" high.  Surfed the internet but couldn't find one less than 10" high.
Any suggestions?

Owned my 2005 C34 seven years and Otto the autopilot always performed perfectly until earlier this season when he started steering hard to port every time.
Have not changed or added any other electronics in the cockpit or anyplace else on the boat, so am wondering if anyone can suggest a cause/fix.
Called Raymarine and left message for tech response some time ago but no response and found no help in the owners manual.

FYI - received one of those letters last week which give the impression of being from the Coast Guard, but isn't,
so thought I'd just put the cautionary word out again not to respond to such a letter, with address in Morgantown WVA
and postmarked in Santa Ana CA.

Just acquired our '05 MKII w/35hp engine this spring and haven't been able to inspect the HX pencil zinc  yet because it's too tight a space in which to turn a wrench.  Wonder if someone out there with a MKII can tell me how they do it.  Special wrench, perhaps?

Main Message Board / Starboard water tank
December 14, 2009, 01:59:56 PM
My starboard water tank has a pressure leak near the inspection port so I'd like to remove the tank for repair, but having trouble getting the hose off the bottom plastic fitting on the tank.  Hard to get at and can't pull the hose off by hand, so I figure someone knows the best way to get the hose off without breaking things.  Thanks for any guidance.

Main Message Board / RUDDER REPAIR
March 18, 2009, 08:29:03 AM
Discovered water in rudder leaking from pinhole on side since boat stored on land for winter and drilled a few 1/4" holes on port side of rudder to drain.  Checked wiki etc. and called/emailed Kent at Catalina and followed his guidance to drop rudder 2" and seal at top with 5200.  He also suggested pouring polyester resin down inside rudder stock to prevent water incursion from cockpit sole emergency tiller port, which my helper/friend doesn't think necessary, but which I might do anyway.

My question to the forum is:  What should I use to fill those holes I drilled in the rudder???
Marine-Tex
West System
5200
or???

Launch date is 3/31 so must make sure holes are sealed permanently/water-tight.  Daytime temps here will average no more than 50s daytime so if I use Marine-Tex will use hairdryer to heat rudder before and after filling holes as indicated in Marine-Tex instructions.

Thanks for your suggestions and thanks in particular to Stu, Jon, David, Ron and all others who make this board an invaluable resource.

Following a recent cruise in which required motoring at least four hours I found quite a bit of coolant (50/50 antifreeze) in pan under engine.  Traced leak to HX hose connection on port side under manifold.  Decided to replace original-looking hose plus the hose it connects to in front of engine, and double clamped the HX connection, which stopped the leak.  Topped up coolant and ran engine, which overheated right away (first time in three years of ownership).  Referred to manual which said replacing coolant can induce air into system and suggested running engine up to 2800-3000 rpm momentarily to dispell air from system, which might take 2-3 repetitions to do the job.  Still overheating.
Checked following:
HX zinc - OK
Thermostat - OK
Raw water strainer - OK
Raw water discharge - OK
Opened fresh water bleed valve

Perhaps someone can diagnose this problem from experience.  Could double-clamping that connection cause the problem?  It was previously single-clamped. Something is apparently blocking coolant flow.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Main Message Board / Hood Seafurl 915 parts source
April 20, 2008, 02:33:54 PM
Gentlemen, when attempting to install my head sail one of the shackle studs in the halyard swivel assembly popped overboard.  Just to be clear, I'm not referring to the 'D' or 'U' type shackles.  The Hood owner's manual lists the part as a shackle stud, with one in the upper and one in the lower swivel.  This stud is 1 1/2" long and 1/2" in diameter with a 3/8" hole in the bottom side thru which the D shackle pin fits.  Should have had a fine mesh net under the work area to catch that little rascal.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Guys, I need to acquire an emergency tiller for my '91 C34, so I suppose the only source would be Catalina, right?  Checked WM but not in catalog.
Thanks,
