Just for perspective, my Racor between the tank and pump is a R24T (10 micron) and then I use the factory Universal spin-on engine filter (part #298854, not sure the micron rating).

My engine was a new install in 2011 and I haven't changed the screen in the fuel pump yet, but I do have one in the spares kit. My M25XPB also has the small "hidden" filter on the backside, but I haven't changed it yet either. I replaced my fuel tank last season due to corrosion.

Walt : The small hidden filter (screen) on the side of the M25XPB and M35BC doesn't need to be changed.
Got that info from an older parts guy at Engine One (a Westerbeake dealer) .... If you have a Racor filter.

It's serves the purpose just like the screen in the Facit electric fuel pump - to keep "chunks" out of the pump.

QuoteSomething is wrong with either how it is plumbed or the filter or filter head itself.

I will take a close look at the plumbing and the filter head in the next couple of weeks.  Does anyone know a contact at Racor that can answer questions I may have?

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do, than by the ones you did.
So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the tradewinds in your sails.
