Shopping for Radar

There have been a fair number of radar discussions including selection and mounting ideas on this message board.  Use the "find" function with keyword "radar".  If you have more questions, I'd be happy to relate my experience with the Furuno 1622.

We installed the slightly larger JRC 1500 two years ago and have been happy with it.  It is my first radar, so have nothing to compare with.  JRC makes the Raytheon units (or did until recently) and it was quite a bit less expensive than Raytheon when we bought ours.  Practical Sailor had a good write up on them.  One feature I like is the "jog dial" which is very intuitive for changing the settings.
