I've seen lots of discussion on where to store your dingy but I haven't seen anything specific to storing the oars.  We store our dingy in front of the mast upside down and remove the oars so they don't scratch the deck or fall off during the process or getting the dinghy onto the deck.  Taking them apart is not a great option to store them in one of the smaller lockers since they are somewhat difficult to take apart (that little button to release the 2 halves is hard to press.  Does anyone have a good place they put the oars when the dinghy is out of the water?

Ours live in the garage (aft cabin).

We have 7' wooden oars and place the paddle side against the forward gate stantion and run the shaft along the lower life line. We then use 4 6" velcro straps to hold it in place. We place an oar on each side of the boat. There out of the way and easily accessible.

I cruise with a roll-up inflatable with a motor.  It doesn't row well, at least for me.  I do keep the 2 part oars in the cockpit locker, but most of the time I use a canoe paddle.  I find it more convient both to store and for close maneuvering.

Sue : The reason I say I store the 2 part oars in a sunbrella sack I made I made, is that also in that sack is my throttle/steering extension I put on the dink motor.

I made a custom sunbrella bag with a zipper that fit my oars, as well as a sail kit (rudder, daggerboard, mast, boom, sails,) and tied it on to the coach roof hand rails.    Worked for 6000 miles.    Sold it with my dingy and miss having a great place to keep the oars.   I left it outside for the whole summer season.

My 8" 6" Aqua Pro RIB has velcro retainers glued to the side of the inflatable tubes pretty close to the floor that hold one oar on each side. I can turn the dinghy over and store it on the foredeck for tougher passages  and the oars stay inside the dinghy and don't scratch anything.
