Thinking of replacing the white formica in the galley and head.  I'm re-using the existing countertops, just want to install new formica.  Does anyone have a picture of the formica they used.  Trying to get an idea of what color/pattern would look good.

Your boat, your choice of color.  Anyone else's personal color choices really don't even begin to hold a candle to what you and your wife may like.

A recent post on co.com had a C30 owner covering her galley formica with charts and covered that with the same material used by bar tops:  http://impatientlycrafty.com/2012/10/04/laminate-counter-makeover-for-28-with-epoxy-contact-paper-yes-i-really-just-said-that/

We refitted the galley (entire boat actually) on my 1985 Catalina 30 back in about 2008 before we got our C34.  The fiinshed pic is attached.  we added black sliding doors to the upper storage area above the stove to match the lower ones as well.  open shelving is for power boats.

In additon, we reused the old countertops, just took a heat gun to pry off the old formica and glued on the new stuff, used a flush trim bit to trim off the excess and cut out the holes.

Thanks Cmain.  I was thinking of putting the new formica right over the top of the old.  Any reason you removed the original.

yes, the extra thickness o the new formica makes the teak trim more difficult to reinstall.  I throws of the screw holes by 1/16 or so and the contact cement used to glue down the top will not stick worth a dam to the old stuff.
