We we bought our Catalina (hull #1076) last year from a 6 '4' sailor . Needless to say, the dodger is very tall. When I need to see over the dodger, I stand on a pair of square throwable cushions to gain some extra height. And it's comfy on your feet.

I'm tall, I can see over my dodger, but I can sit to either side of the wheel, or duck, to see through easily enough. I'd not want it any shorter when sitting in the cockpit, or transiting the companionway.
