The engine water strainer coming off the through hull split when I was cleaning the bowl out. Any idea what size I need and where to get? I brought it by West Marine and they didn't have anything that would work. (Checked the search engine)

Lance, Ken Heyman just recently reported he had the same issue, although he, like me years ago, mistakenly threw it overboard when cleaning the cylinder.  Bring the cylinder with you to a hardware store and buy a gasket (O ring).

I bought a sheet of neoprene gasket material from the marine store and cut my own.   One of our acrylic wineglasses was the perfect size for tracing the outer diameter.  Now I have one permanently marked with a Sharpie.   Tracey was not impressed.   But the new gasket is great.

I think Lance is talking about the strainer itself, not the gasket. I have not had to replace one but there was some discussion on here about buying the whole unit.

I am looking for the gasket. It appears to be a two layer (inner/outer) composite type. I too have a set of acrylic wine glasses..... thanks for the info all.

I'm guessing we're talking about the same small plastic strainer that came on my #677.
Buy a large nice 3/4" Perko to replace it.  The original is so small a gum wrapper will shut it down.

Lance : A good hardware store can make you a gasket on the spot if you give them the old one and have the strainer with you (to insure the fit).
They use the same "glue" that they sell at Boat Shows for gluing "everything" including rubber together.
