Leak?

I am also in the process of rebedding all of my chainplates.

I am curious about the hand rails though.  I left the handrails on the boat when I applied cetol as the tech notes seemed to indicate that this was the preferred method.  Should the handrails be rebed periodically as well?  They are through bolted and seem like they could be a source for leaks.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sure handrails need rebedding sometimes.  There are two schools of thought:  take 'em all the way or just raise them a bit.  I prefer the latter because the curve on the handrails is hard for a singlehander to get back on and lined up.  Caution:  don't bang upwards on the threaded studs, you'll just push out the bungs; loosen the intermediate screws first, then take off the acorn nuts on the studs and knock it up with the screws; put some wood block on the screw heads and use a hammer unless you have a soft mallet.
