Steve : I'm not an electrical whiz, but I'll suggest that you had too large a fuse in 200 amps or +. My fuses at the battery are 100 amp(duel output) and I'd guess that you've never seen your alternator put out 100 amps and you might think about 125 or no more than 150amp fuse.
I'm sure some of our electrical Oracles will SURELY correct me if I'm wrong.  A few thoughts

Actually, I've seen my alternator put out 111A.    The wire size is 1AWG.  The fuse is 200A.   A 150A would be fine.

Mah : Your OEM Motorola alternator will only put out 55 amps for a nanosecond. So don't count on it doing any real kind of charging of rundown batteries!!
I wouldn't recommend any wire size less that #4 depending on the length of the run.  Look at West Marine catalog and they have a graph on wire size/amp drop/length of the run. If there is any question I'd use #2 wire size.
I wouldn't think there is any need to go over a 75 amp fuse if the run is over 4 feet.  A few thoughts

Just received a new water pump from Tractorsmart.com and,  lo and behold the 3/8 fitting was included. All this, after I tracked down a replacement fitting at Advance Auto. Well now I have a spare. Give Ronnie a call @ TS.com; great company.

Peyton,
Do you have the part number for the fresh water pump from Tractorsmart.com?

Thanks

15534 73030 for the pump and 15676 73430 for the gasket. Just installed it with no problems. If your coolant hoses are old, perfect time to do them.
