Foster decided he wanted to take a bike to Mexico.   It's hard enough to figure out where to put propane tanks let alone bikes.   So a little work on ebay and the bike problem is solved.   Weighs about 12 lbs.   Easy to fit a dozen of them under the v-berth.   Probably useless on a dirt road in Baja, but around the docks or shopping in town,  he'll be sure to meet lots of new friends...

Steve, I noticed on Lectronic Lattitude today that of 100 boats signed up for the Ha Ha so far that Blackdragon is not the only C34, with Susan Campbell and S/V Campbells Sloop out of Dana Point CA also on the roster.  Wishing you, Foster and crew a smooth and enjoyable cruise to Mexico!

Hey thanks.  I didn't notice Campbell's Sloop - must have just signed up.  I'll need to drag a few cones from the drogue to allow them to keep up what with my fresh bottom paint, new main and spinnaker.   Oh no wait.   That's what my solar panels are for.  Damn and a fixed three bladed prop.   Maybe I won't be able to keep up.   Oh well - no penalty for motoring on the Baja Haha...

Sometime, if you ever get a chance, put aside a lump of money and spend 5 months fixing up your boat.   It's a fun and rewarding thing to do.   All that and I get to go to Mexico and fix all the bits that break on the way down!

Reminds me of an old book title, The Zen of MotorcycleMaintenance, tho maintaining a bike is a cinch compared to our pelagic conveyances, eh?  Yoga might come in handy in dealing with boat breakdowns, but wouldn't advise spending a lot of time in the lotus position whilst transiting the WA, OR and Northern CA coastlines unless you are well offshore.  Should be smooth sailing after Point Conception.
