I found out about SeaClear PC chartploting on this site.  I am very impressed.  Just what I wanted for a backup and for home use planing this summers cruises during the long Erie winters.  And it's free. :clap  Except for Canadian charts. :cry4`  I do about half of my cruising in Canada.  Does any one on this site use SeaClear and Canadian charts?  If so how did you do it, buy the Canadian Disk, scan in paper charts, or perhaps another way?

Jim - If you buy the Canadian electronics charts in BSB4 format, they're encrypted and won't work with SeaClear. We're fortunate that NOAA decided that providing charts for free was cheaper that maintaining the paper print stream. I wound up purchasing Coastal Explorer. I expect you could scan the paper charts like you've alluded to. Otherwise, SeaClear is great!
