Interior Wood

I have noticed that the interior wood color on the newer Catalina's are much lighter than my "89. Is this simply because mine has darkened from age or are they just using lighter wood?

I have a MK II and have a friend with an '86.  The wood used in the pre-MK II boats is darker.  The stain they also use on the MK II is lighter too.
I had an '83 Catalina 30 and it also had the darker wood.

Mike : You can't do anything to change the teak paneling, but you can lighten up the salon as I did.  I used contact cement and glued ash batton wood (like on the hull sides) to cover the dark sliding side doors.  It really lightens up the down below!!
