CNG - Pressure

The CNG tank in my boat is rated at 2250 psi. I had it tested to 3750. The filling station for cars puts out 3000 psi. I see that an adapter will get the tank connected to the fill nozzel for cars but what about the pressure? Can the valve and regulator take the added pressure? Do I need to put a regulator in the adapter? Is this a common concern? Please advise.

Sems to me that the parts list for the CNG adapter at the Project page: http://www.c34.org/projects/projects-cng-refill-adapter.html says everything must be rated to 5,000 psi, so yes it should.  The regulator is part of the overall assembly.

The folks at Sure Marine who trade full tanks for empty ones say that 99% of all tanks/valves/regulators are the same. The tanks are stamped with 2250 psi?? Sure the adapter should be rated as high as possible but what about the existing components in the boat?

If they are downstream of the regulator, they should be fine, since the regulator is what drops the pressure.
