Paint for Binnacle

I need to paint the base of my binnacle. I think a can of spray paint would work well.  Does anyone have know the correct paint to use?

Why not contact Edson?  They made the pedestal, and I have found them to be extremely helpful.

I suspect you wont be happy with spray paint.  I'm sure Edson used some sort of two part linear polyurethane (like Awl-Grip) to paint it.  I agree that you should talk to Edson and get the exact match of paint. It will still be a bit of work to get it to blend in.

I did some serious sanding and then applied a "rustoleum" glossy white paint (designed for rusty lawn furniture and wrought iron railings etc) using a foam brush. It sets up well and has held up.

Edson pedestal base is powder coated - a process which bakes the paint into the aluminum.  I had it done on my old boat.  Cost me about $100 or so - and of course had to remove the pedestal.   Looked new and should last another 15 years.
