Throttle cable

Last weekend during some engine maintenance I found something which may be of interest to those who have gone to the softer engine mounts. I was watching the engine for water leaks following a hose change and with my hand pulled the power back to the idle stop, the engine shook badly as expected. A movement caught my eye at the throttle cable housing as it attaches to the bracket. There is a yoke shaped piece which is meant to capture a groove in the cable housing, it was bouncing completely out of the groove on its pivot! A Ty-Rap wrapped twice around secured it however I plan on using some safety wire as a more permanent repair. Engine hours about 980.

Bruce : Also there's a circular guide that the cable goes thru on the starboard side of the engine.  To keep the cable from wearing take a wire tie and put it thru that hole to act as chafe guard.
