I am looking at the Technautics cold plate vs. the adler barbour evaporator.

The advantage I know so far with the Technautics is

1. draws alot less power about 21 amps per day.

2. the system is treated for corrosion

I don't know if this is a pro or con but you can create your own size freezer by separating the box with a piece of foam coated with abs plastic.

I am looking for other comments and input.

What size would you make the freezer? From the left side wall how many inches over to the right would you make it? since the freezer would go from the bottom to 1 inch from the top.

Hi John,

Where you use the boat is a consideration.  I'm in So. Cal so the weather is normally a bit cool.  I put in an Adler Barbour Cold Machine with the small evaporator when I got the boat three years ago.  Have an 8D battery and two group 27's.  No problem going 4 days at anchor without running the batteries down more than 50%.   I've not added any extra insulation to the ice box but considering it.  It runs almost all year round at the dock with no problems.  A door like the new models have in addition to the top lid would be nice in order to get to things.
