RPM & air in system

I noticed last week that there was some discussion re: lower RPM due to the possibilty of air in the fuel system. Is this likely? I was always under the impression that if you bleed the system and your engine runs that all is OK.Sort of like not being "a little bit pregnant" I have a three blade prop and can only get a max of 2700 RPM out of my M25XP. I bought the boat last year and until recently I never checked maximum RPM. I can achieve aprox. 6.5 knots into a 12 knot headwind with relatively flat Lake Mich. seas. I did have a remarkably dirty Racor filter which I have since changed and while my fuel appears cleaner I should probably follow some of this sites advice on cleaning my tank nxt. winter.
Should I rebleed?

Ken..... If you are getting 2700 rpm and 6.5 knots out of an M25XP in a 12 knot head wind you are doing better than most. Normal cruising RPM is 2100 to 2600 RPM. If you are referring to my posts last week about RPM problems, it was not air in the system it was fuel starvation do to junk in tank blocking entrance to the Racor. You still may need to clean your tank but it doesn't sound like you have a blockage. By the way if you do clean your tank don,t forget to thoroughly clean your Racor and replace all the fuel lines........PAUL
