    Ron,

I didn't realize that AGM batteries maintain their charge indefinitely. I'm a little surprised to hear that when your marina was struck by lightening all the plugged in boats were damaged, I would have thought they would have been protected by their circuit breakers, my boat is protected by two, one on the dock and one on the electrical panel of the boat. It makes one wonder why builders even bother to install them on boats if they don't protect against sudden power surges.

Kevin : I did NOT say that AGMs held their charge INDEFINITELY !??!  I said that they do not self-discharge like flooded batteries.

On the lightening strike "as I recall" that 90000+?+? volt surge went thru the little breakers on the slip stations and melted the power plugs on the boats with damage to their internal systems!!  Guess that the marina electrical was not made for that size voltage gorilla!!
