Any thoughts on using double braid?  That's what I have now, and it's the thimble that comes with the rode that is causing the issue.  The outer diameter is around 2.5", and it get's jammed up.

I did a bit of digging and I have found some references to basically creating a double braid 'thimble' right onto the chain, which doesn't seem any different that splicing 3 strand/8 plait onto chain?  Just gets braided onto one link.

Otherwise, maybe a new 'thimble' using a smaller thimble?

It would be good to be able to reuse what I have...

pby : I believe that you want to stick with nylon and not a Dacron double braid!!  I think that your question is best answered by New England, Samson or a Line Manufacturer!!

Folks— I had never heard of "double braid anchor rode". But after researching, apparently it is a reputable and fairly common thing. NOT Dacron but NYLON double braid!
